Frequently Asked Questions

Short, friendly answers to give you complete peace of mind before your first visit.

Treatments & Specialized Care

Can I see Susan for my medications and Nessa for my therapy?

Absolutely — in fact, that is our specialty. At Sauk Valley Mind Matters, we provide a collaborative care model. Susan and Nessa work closely together behind the scenes to ensure your psychiatric care and talk therapy align perfectly toward your personal goals.

I am interested in Spravato®. How do I get started?

If you have severe depression that hasn’t improved with traditional antidepressants, Spravato® may be an option for you. Because this treatment requires a 2-hour observation period in our clinic and a designated driver to take you home, your first step is to book a Comprehensive Psychiatric Evaluation with Susan to see if it is a safe and appropriate fit for your care.

Booking & Insurance

How do I book an appointment?

Booking is fast, secure, and completely digital. You can check our real-time availability and select a slot that works for you by clicking our Grow Therapy Booking Link or requesting an appointment through our SimplePractice portal.

What insurance plans do you accept?

We are in-network with major plans across Illinois and Iowa, including Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, UnitedHealthcare/Optum, HealthPartners, and the VA Community Care Network. See our full insurance list for current accepting status.

We also accept out-of-pocket payments.

What payment methods do you accept for copays or self-pay?

We make payment simple. We accept all major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express), Health Savings Accounts (HSA), as well as traditional cash or checks at the time of your visit.

Appointments & Logistics

Do you offer virtual appointments, or do I have to come to the office?

We offer both. You can choose to meet with us in person at our Sterling clinic or attend your appointment virtually via a secure telehealth video call from the comfort of your own home.

Where is your office located, and where should I park?

Our physical office is located at 105 W 3rd St, Sterling, IL 61081. There is convenient street parking directly in front of the building, as well as accessible parking options nearby.

I work during the day. Do you have appointments that fit my schedule?

Yes. We are proud to be a practice designed for the working person. We offer convenient evening appointments until 8:00 PM and Saturdays by appointment so you never have to choose between your job and your mental health.
